Barangkali kita pernah bertemu orang yang selalu mau tahu tentang hal pribadi orang lain namun dia terus menutup diri agar jati dirinya tidak terbuka.

Mereka biasanya hidup dalam ketakutan dan kecurigaan, dan selalu berprasangka buruk kepada siapa saja yang dijumpainya. Sikap ini adalah unsur yang tidak dimiliki banyak orang sukses.

Rasa percaya dan kebesaran hati untuk membuka diri terhadap lawan bicara merupakan cermin bahwa kita nyaman dengan diri sendiri, lantas tidak ada yang perlu ditutupi, itulah yang dicari oleh para partner sejati dan sebagian besar dari kita akan setuju bahwa tidak banyak orang yang mau bekerja sama dengan orang yang misterius, betul kan?

Kelima, Senang bekerja sama dan membina hubungan baik:

Kemampuan bekerja sama dalam tim adalah salah satu kunci keberhasilan utama.

Kembali kita mengambil contoh Donald Trump. Dalam serial TV The Apprentice, Trump memiliki tim yang loyal dan menjadi perpanjangan tangan dirinya dalam menemukan para calon “orang kepercayaan” yang baru.

Pada akhirnya, Trump akan memiliki sebuah tim yang sangat loyal dan bervisi sama dengan menciptakan jaringan kerja yang baik, sehingga jalan menuju sukses itu semakin terbuka lebar.

Keenam, Senang mempelajari hal-hal baru:

Ciputra dan Aburizal Bakrie adalah seorang yang bisa dikatakan sebagai orang sukses dalam bidangnya yaitu commerce. Tapi saat mereka mendirikan universitas, apakah mereka beralih sebagai seorang pendidik? Atau mereka sendiri sebenarnya adalah profesor? Jelas tidak, mereka tetap seorang entrepreneur, namun dengan kegemarannya mencari hal-hal baru serta langsung menerapkannya, maka dunia bisnis semakin terbuka luas baginya.

Dunia bisnis ibarat sebagai tempat bermain yang laus dan tidak terbatas. Jadi senang belajar dan mencari hal baru adalah sebuah sikap kesuksesan.

Ketujuh, Jarang mengeluh, profesionalisme adalah yang paling utama:

Lance Armstrong pernah berkata, “There are two kinds of days: good days and great days.”

Hanya ada dua macam hari: hari yang baik dan hari yang sangat baik. Adalah baik jika kita tidak pernah mengeluh, walaupun suatu hari mungkin kita akan jatuh dan gagal.

Mengapa?

Karena setiap kali gagal, itu adalah kesempatan bagi diri kita untuk belajar mengatasi kegagalan itu sendiri sehingga tidak terulang lagi di kemudian hari. Hari di mana kita gagal tetap sebagai a good day (hari yang baik).

Kedelapan, Berani menanggung resiko:

Jelas, tanpa ini tidak ada kesempatan sama sekali untuk menuju sukses. Sebenarnya setiap hari kita menanggung resiko, walaupun tidak disadari penuh.

Resiko hanyalah akan berakibat dua macam: be a good or a great day. Jadi, jadi tidak perlu dikhawatirkan lagi bukan?

Kegagalan pun hanyalah kesempatan belajar untuk tidak mengulangi hal yang sama di kemudian hari dan tentunya ambang kepada kesuksesan akan lebih dekat.

Kesembilan, Tidak menunjukkan kekhawatiran (berpikir positif setiap saat):

Berpikir positif adalah environment atau default state di mana keseluruhan eksistensi kita berada.

Jika kita gunakan pikiran negatif sebagai default state, maka semua perbuatan kita akan berdasarkan ini (kekhawatiran atau cemas). Dengan pikiran positif, maka perbuatan kita akan didasarkan oleh getaran positif, sehingga hal positif akan semakin besar kemungkinannya.

Semakin positif kita menyikapi hambatan, semakin besar kesempatan kita menemukan penyelesaian atas hambatan tersebut.

Kesepuluh: “Comfortable in their own skin” Menutup-nutupi sesuatu maupun supaya tampak “lebih” dari lawan bicaranya.

Pernah bertemu dengan orang sukses yang rendah diri alias tidak nyaman dengan diri mereka sendiri? Tidak ada tentunya.

Kenyamanan menjadi diri sendiri tidak perlu ditutup-tutupi supaya lawan bicara tidak tersinggung karena setiap orang mempunyai tempat tersendiri di dunia yang tidak bisa digantikan oleh orang lain. Saya adalah saya, mereka adalah mereka.

Dengan menjadi diri saya sendiri, saya tidak akan mengusik keberadaan mereka. Jika mereka merasa tidak nyaman, itu bukan karena kepribadian saya, namun karena mindset yang berbeda dan kekurangmampuan mereka dalam mencapai kenyamanan dengan diri sendiri.

Sikap dasar orang sukses tersebut di atas barangkali dapat menjadi cerminan dan memuluskan langkah kita untuk mencapai kesuksesan yang kita impikan, tinggal kita yang memutuskan.

Suatu survei yang menanyakan faktor apa sajakah yang sering dikeluhkan seorang karyawan tentang atasannya menemukan 9 hal utama, yaitu: (1) sikap/tindakan yang seperti hakim, (2) sombong, (3) tidak dapat menunjukkan/memberikan penghargaan kepada karyawan, (4) tidak dapat atau tidak mau melihat/mendengar pandangan dari sudut yang lain, (5) tidak mempunyai jiwa kepemimpinan, (6) tidak terbuka dan tidak jujur, (7) tidak mampu mendelegasikan tanggung-jawabnya, (8) tidak dapat mengambil keputusan dengan cepat dan tepat dan (9) bias, membiarkan emosi mempengaruhi keputusan-keputusannya.






Salah satu cara untuk menghindari hal-hal di atas adalah mulai mengatur (me-"manage") orang lain dan diri sendiri agar dapat bertindak secara asertif/tegas. Delapan tahapannya adalah sbb.:

1. Membangun kepercayaan diri
Percaya pada kemampuan diri sendiri. Mencintai diri sendiri dengan segala kekurangannya. Mampu menghargai keberhasilannya sehingga mampu pula menghargai keberhasilan orang lain.

2. Mampu mendengar secara aktif
Memberikan kesempatan orang lain berbicara tanpa harus dinilai dan mengarahkannya agar dapat mengatasi masalahnya sendiri sehingga memumuk kepercayaan diri orang lain

5. Tahu cara memberikan kritik yang positif

Ingat bahwa kesalahan anda tidak samadengan diri anda.

7. Tahu cara memberi sanjungan/pujian
Mendasarkan pujiannya pada pencapain tujuan, sesuai

Bersikap fleksibel dan mau menyesuaikan diri dengan kepribadian karyawannya dan pada waktu yang tepat

TIAP orang memerlukan kebebasan untuk menjadi kreatif dan mengaktualisasi diri. Di sisi lain, kendali dari dalam diri diperlukan sebagai regulasi atas dorongan dan kemampuan yang dimiliki, baik secara fisik, psikis, maupun perilaku.

Bertindak tanpa pikir panjang merupakan ciri khas yang melekat pada anak-anak. Mereka bertindak spontan. Bila sakit mereka akan menangis di mana saja, kapan saja, dan dalam situasi apa saja. Bila gembira, anak yang sehat akan berlarian, mencoret-coret, berteriak-teriak girang, atau melakukan apa pun yang ia inginkan.

Check Your Self-Control Ability

EACH person needs the freedom to be creative and self actualization. On the other hand, control of the self-regulation is necessary as the instigation and capabilities, whether physical, psychological, and behavioral.

Acting without thinking is a characteristic inherent in children. They acted spontaneously. When sick they will cry anywhere, anytime, and in any situation. When happy, healthy child will run, scribbling, shouting excitedly, or do whatever he wants.






Imagine if this kind of behavior by adolescents or adults. Of course, quite strange. We would feel very disturbed when finding someone who is no longer the children act as they pleased, let impulses or desires that are selfish manifest granted.


The more a person gets older, he expected more and have control over their own behavior. In other words, the more developed the ability to control themselves.
Full / self control (self-control) is the influence or regulation or a person against the physical, behavioral, and psychological processes (Calhoun & Acocella, 1990). It is very important in a person's life. Why?

First, self-control plays a role in one's relationships with others. This is not out of the fact that we do not live alone, but in groups, in the community. In fact, we have personal needs such as food, drink, warmth, and so forth. To meet these needs we need to control yourself in such a way, so as not to disturb others.

Second, self-control plays a role in the achievement of personal goals. Every person, from any culture, always expect to achieve certain goals in life. For example, in order to have a certain competence, achieve personal maturity, and so forth, in accordance with the standards that exist in society.

In order to achieve these objectives we need to learn and try over and over, and control themselves by delaying the gratification of the needs of a moment in order to achieve long-term goals.

By developing the ability to control himself as well as possible, we will become an effective person, so that it can consistently feel happy, free from guilt, to live more constructively, to accept yourself, and also accepted by the community.

Internal and External Control
Increasing age, a person is expected to increasingly develop the ability to control his behavior. Where source control one's behavior? Its source can be divided into two: factors inside and outside one's self.

Control behavior that comes from within themselves are usually referred to as an internal control, and that comes from outside ourselves is called external control. For example, a teenager who still impulsive, which is always angry when his wish was fulfilled, the possibility of becoming so because since childhood, her parents always comply with all requests (to function as a reward) every time the child was whining to ask anything, even more so when her son was getting angry.
